TYRELL the beast JOSHWAY
ORIGINS
Tyrell Joshway, a native of Los Angeles, California, grew up surrounded by high expectations. Family and friends envisioned him playing in the NFL, but his path took a different turn. At 17, seeking to escape the challenges of his environment, Tyrell joined the Air Force, choosing a future of discipline and purpose over the allure of gang life. His military journey included six months of trade school at the Pensacola Naval Station and two years working on AC-130 aircraft, ultimately leading to a career as an aircraft sheet metal fabricator. Over the years, Tyrell has worked on countless airplanes, honing his skills and precision craftsmanship.
At 21, Tyrell faced a life-changing incident when he was injured by gunfire. Despite the severity of the injuries, which left him unable to walk, he approached recovery with resilience and determination. Through a dedicated regimen that included biking 5-6 miles daily, Tyrell regained his strength and mobility within a year. His recovery is a testament to his willpower—today, no one would know what he endured unless he chooses to share the story.
In 2013, Tyrell began learning to box from his family, setting the stage for his entry into combat sports. However, his journey took another turn when he survived a devastating motorcycle accident. The injuries were severe, including a broken back requiring two screws to reconnect his spine and pelvis, a fractured wrist, and other significant traumas. Despite these challenges, Tyrell adapted his fitness routine, focusing on bodyweight exercises to maintain his strength. By 2018, his commitment to fitness had grown to an impressive daily regimen of 600 push-ups and sit-ups, a practice he continues to this day.
In September 2018, Tyrell discovered Muay Thai and immersed himself in its rigorous training and discipline. Within six months, he competed in his first tournament, going 2-0. His skill and dedication quickly propelled him to the top of the sport, achieving a 17-1 amateur record and earning recognition as the best in the nation. Tyrell’s ultimate goal is to make his professional debut in 2025 and become the face of Muay Thai in America. He dreams of representing his country once again, this time on a global stage, as a fighter and ambassador for the sport.
